Why are shared services and outsourcing important?

Shared Services and Outsourcing are about growth. This means shifting capital and resources toward opportunities like innovation, sales, new products, and acquisitions. Fast-moving American companies and their employees are able to do more and better when they align themselves around insights and the opportunities to create value.  At the moment, approximately 50 percent of all investment in shared service centers in Central & Eastern Europe is from US-based companies.

What does "shared services" actually mean?

It means that your company owns a centralized location -- a shared services center (SSC) -- that provides enterprise-wide services to the other locations and departments of your company.  For example:  services like finance, IT, administration and related back-office functions.  Solutions such as software development and quality assurance are also available.

By pooling these capabilities in Central & Eastern Europe, you gain cost efficiency as well as access to people with extraordinary language skills and world-class commercial talent.  Your locations and departments in the United States and/or around the world share this resource, but you don't share this resource with other companies.  Your shared service center is yours, and the employees work for you more or less like any other employees in your company.

Who should attend this event?

Most of this event appeals to finance professionals and global process owners.  If you are an American company interested in growing profit and expanding opportunities, you should attend.  The benefits of shared services and outsourcing are not just for large corporations.  It is estimated that a mid-market US company can bring $5-million to the bottom line in year one.

Executives and managers at this event will come from a diverse range of companies:

  • US corporations that already operate shared service centers and which seek to “compare notes” on best-practice, up-and-coming locations, salary and compensation trends, and robotics utilization..
  • US mid-market firms exploring the advantages of shared service centers in Europe: Streamline your business process and dramatically reduce costs.
  • American software and IT firms that seek strong relationships with world-class providers of technical, systems, and programming solutions.
  • American startups that want to lengthen the runway by tapping first-rate talent at a more affordable cost. Reduce burn rate and increase capabilities at once.
  • Any US-based company that seeks an immediate year-one boost to the bottom line.  Reduce back-office costs in finance, IT, and administration in a region with extraordinary language skills and world-class commercial talent.

Do I need to buy an all-day ticket?  Or can I buy a ticket just for the summit or just for the awards gala?

Yes, you can buy tickets for only the summit or only the awards gala.  See the tab labeled "Tickets" on this website.  However, given the opportunities for peer-to-peer networking, and for talking directly with executives and managers who already enjoy the benefits of shared service centers and outsourcing, we believe that your best bet is the full-day ticket.  The full day ticket offers an exceptional qualitative experience as well as excellent value for money.

What happens if I buy a ticket and I don't show up at the event?

Well, we'll certainly miss you.  Refunds are cheerfully provided up to 60 days before the date of the event.   After that time, however, we regret that no further refunds are possible.

What happens at the awards gala?

The greatest priority at the awards gala is the opportunity to talk with the jurists, panelists and other attendees.  In terms of shared services and outsourcing in Central & Eastern Europe, this is a peer-to-peer networking opportunity like no other.  Representatives from a number of CEE governments will also be present, as well as officials from American Chambers of Commerce from throughout the region.

Awards are given to shared services and outsourcing teams of US companies.  If your US-based company already operates a shared service center in Central & Eastern Europe, feel free to nominate your team or the team of others whom you admire.  An online nomination form can be found at the "Nominate" link at the top of this page.

Why should my company submit a nomination?

We have found that the most savvy companies understand the public relations value and media attention from being distinguished at the very top of one's field.  Past winners have used their nominations and awards to build esprit de corps and a sense of community, both internally and among clients and suppliers.

Winners do not take all.  Each nomination that moves past the jury's first vote (to the short list) is also promoted via our media and our associated partners -- both before the award event and for several months after.  You can see (from our earlier awards events in Poland) some of video here and photos here.

How many nomination categories are there?

You will find nominations in 15 categories, with the focus on shared services centers and ITO/BPO operations.

Does it cost anything to submit a nomination?

No.  Nominations are free of charge.  Furthermore, nominations and award winners are independent of any sponsorship or partnership.  We detest "paid for" awards events.  Our event is fully independent and transparent.  Even the jury will not know who won awards until the envelopes are opened on stage on 28th June.

What are the rules regarding nominations?

Anyone can nominate anyone and there is no limit to submitted nominations. However, we have found that the winning nominations are usually submitted by the candidate company itself, because they know best their organization. Nominations must be submitted online (see Link on the website) before the 12 April, 2018 deadline.

Who is on the jury?  And why such a composition?

We like a large jury, and in 2018 we'll have more than 30 jurists.  These men and women represent large investors which have already invested in the CEE region.  Therefore, they have notable experience in the location, staffing, and operation of shared service centers across the region and for an array of industry verticals.  Each year, we rotate at least 33 percent of the jury members.

Can I sponsor the event?

Yes.  You will find a number of value-added sponsorships that can help you to fulfill your B2B marketing objectives. Please contact Thom Barnhardt at tb(at)CeeoutsourcingAwards.com, or +48-508-143-963 (in Poland).

What kind of media support does this event have?

We have media support in the United States, UK, France, Scandinavia, and Germany. Additionally, we have support from more than 10 associations across Central & Eastern Europe which are dedicated to servicing and supporting investors.

Who is the organizer?

We are an American-owned independent media group (CEE Business Media) with deep experience in Poland and CEE over the last 20 years, based in Warsaw, and we publish magazines, directories, and websites about topics including SSC/BPO, Capital Markets, and FDI investment into/from the CEE region. Our magazines include CEE Shared Services/Outsourcing Directory, and four other titles. We also organize 3 other Awards events per year for the CEE region.

What is the concept and history behind the USA-Europe Shared Services Awards and Summit?

We have organized for 6 years the annual CEE Shared Services Awards (www.CeeOutsourcingAwards.com) in Poland and covering the whole CEE region. We cover Poland, Hungary, Czech, Slovakia, Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, Romania, Serbia, Bulgaria – and Ukraine. We are focused on connecting large global investors with cities/locations in CEE, and believe that global investors first look at the region, then drill down to a country and a specific city.

This USA-Europe Shared Services Awards
is a result of the strong investment from the United States into CEE. About 50% of the inward investment into CEE comes from the US, yet the consensus is that the “mid-market” US corporates are still just beginning to recognize the opportunities – and this is where the Awards and Summit comes in. We aim to connect US mid-market corporates with the established “veterans” in CEE, and in the process educate and inform more US companies about the region.
